The Cottrell family history in the United States dates back to the 1600s. Our focus is on the Cottrell family members who passed through or settled in Greene and Darke County Ohio in the early 1800's then moved to Michigan in the early 1930's. Our research includes the descendants of William Claude Cottrell who lived in the Cement City Michigan area.
Our goal is to share and improve the Cottrell genealogy documentation for fellow family members and preserve the Cottrell family history for future generations. We also hope to solve the 1810 "Ohio Cottrell brick wall" by using genetic genealogy with the assistance of male descendants of the Cottrell family. If you are a member of this family more details on our research and how you can help are available on the Cottrell Notes and the Genetic Genealogy pages.
Descendants of William Cottrell born 1873 or William Claude Cottrell born 1903 of Darke County Ohio or the descendants of Owen Cottrell who was born April 19,1934 in Cement City, Michigan are especially urged to contact me. We also welcome contact from descendants of Asher Cottrell born 1810 and John B.M. Cottrell born 1840 . In addition to genetic genealogy I am interested in old photographs and biographical information so that I may preserve this history for future generations.
